Archive for the “They always say...” Category

It’s Tuesday and it feels like Thursday. As they always say, “that’s not a good sign of things to come” or alternatively, “maybe you just think that the shops are open late tonight”. Either way it really can’t be all that positive.

I think it’s the small things in life that enthuse me the most.  They always say that small things amuse small minds, and maybe that’s true or maybe ‘they’ just can’t appreciate the intricate complexities of something that you wouldn’t see on Rove. Today I was reminded of how much I love it when people send me screenshots. Working in support you tend to get emails with screenshots that show the problem they are having. This reminded me of an email I got which had something like ‘how to not feel lonely and be more awesome’ typed into the google search bar. This has inspired me to have something just as rediculous in the search bar whenever I take a screenshot, or have 14 solitaire game windows minimised. I suggest you try this sometime today.

I guess they always say that good things come in threes, hence the title of today’s post. I figured that maybe I should do a monthly recap of each month’s goings on on the last day of each month. It probably won’t last and I’ll forget, just like I forgot who played Dana Sculley in a game of trivial pursuit I played today. Don’t worry Ben, I still won. And now that has taken up all the space that “they” allow me to write each day, maybe I will recap tomorrowz.

The olympics linger on in both my hearts and in my nostrils. I had the pleasure of attending Dreamworld today, and it seems as though the smells of Beijing have followed. Thankfully this was not the highlight of the day. Like they always say- “you can’t enjoy a theme park until you go with multiple young children”. And boy are they true! I am so tired right now I wish I had a seat from the A-M-C cinema, which are known around these parts for their cloud-like comfort. The end.

I don’t have my scooter still, which is a darn shame. As they always say, “It is better to have scooted and lost, than to have never scooted at all”. It’s mainly a good reason for me to post scooter related hats. So if you are a religious person, could you please light a candle for Winnie Mcgee (my scooter) tonight.

Like they always say, “There is nothing like pushing your scooter across a busy road and then on a footpath for a kilometre to really start your day right”. I don’t know who “they” are but i think even they got it wrong this time. So I suffered from some scooter fail on the way to work this morning. It was kinda lucky that I was near where I get it fixed, but still no-one ever really wants to be pushing a scooter at 9am. Winnie ‘Scoots’ McGee has had a pretty good run and I think she really just needed a rest today, oh and maybe a pamper.

It’s official. 1984 is finally here, and about time too. It’s only 24 years late, but like they always say…”24 years too late is better than never”. Now when you jokingly say that you can see someone’s house as you pretend to stalk them over the internet, you really can. I mean at least you can tell them what kind of car they have, their number plate, the colour of tiles on their house and whether or not they hang their underwear on the inside part of their clothesline or not (thanks google for that one). So yeah Google street level maps went live today for Australia, and well the most exciting news is that my name-sharing workmate made it on there! It’s his new claim to fame.

Sure the title of this post is nothing like what I was trying to convey. I can see that, and maybe you can to, but it would awesome if you could just overlook it just this once. It’s meant to sound like Miami Vice. It’s what it sounds like it my head, but then again I have this wicked beat and jangly keyboard going on too (also a large black man saying ‘yeah’ at appropriate times). Getting back to the topic at hand, Dr Pepper. I like it. Really I do. Anything that reminds me of cough mixture, can only be a good thing. Like they always say- “The quickest way to a man’s heart is through his beverage”.
